Behind cautia there are insurance people
cautia is the platform built by somos ELIAs, a Colombian company that runs operations for insurance agencies and brokers. We didn't arrive from outside the industry with a technology looking for a problem: we came from inside it, watching what a junior analyst does for eight hours a day and working out which part of that can be handed over without losing quality.
Human in the loopWhere the name comes from
“Elías” comes from Don Elías, the insurance veteran every agency has: the one who knows the policy wordings by heart, knows which insurer answers quickly and which coverage falls apart in the fine print. It's the knowledge that isn't written in any manual and disappears when the person leaves.
The name also plays on the Spanish for AI. That's the idea: a veteran's judgement, executed at a system's speed, with a person reviewing before anything goes out.
That's where the three analysts came from: Elías in underwriting, Valentina in receivables and Matías in claims. They're not characters or mascots: they're roles that group specific modules, each with its real status.

somos ELIAs is the company that runs the service and holds the commercial relationship with the agencies. cautia is the platform those workflows run on: it is the product brand and the brand of this site.
cautia's product and engineering team works alongside the somos ELIAs operations team: what gets built comes out of what is operated every day for agencies.
How we work
- One workflow at a time
- No large migrations: we pick the process that hurts most, put it into production and move on to the next one.
- With your real files
- From the diagnostic onwards we work with documents from your operation, not with samples.
- With human review
- We use artificial intelligence in every workflow and there is always a person before anything is sent.
- Saying what we don't do
- If a module is in pilot, we say so. If it doesn't exist, we say so. That is cheaper than losing a client over a promise we couldn't keep.
Clients
We run workflows in production for Colombian agencies and brokers. We don't publish their names or their logos without written authorisation, and for now we'd rather show you the work in a live session than a row of logos.
